Storyboard Text

  • As many Americans began to move north from the expansion of land, the same issues that were once present for them came along with them as the Kansas-Nebraska Act began
  • All types of people embarked on a journey to Kansas and Nebraska for many reasons, with some hoping to spread positivity, and others bring the same behavior from the south and nort to the center
  • because of this, popular sovereignty became the main factor in the cause of the event since debates for and agains slavery began
  • This led to a divide between democrats and republicans on the decisionmaking towards having these states become either free or slave territories. Because of this, many people began to migrate to the states to state their opinions.
  • Fighting shortly began, as debates led to arguments and soon to violence. Popular sovereignty wasn`t in the favor of neither side, as they were focused on silencing the other half to finally speak.
  • This leads to John brown murdering 5 pro-slavery activists because of the emotions that each side has expressed, causing Bleeding Kansas to errupt into the deaths of many.
