Storyboard Text

  • Objective summary
  •   RL.1. Analyze a theme’s development over the course of a text. Analyze how a theme emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details.
  • RL.2 Analyze what the text says explicitly. Analyze inferences drawn from the text. Cite specific and relevant textual evidence to support analyses.
  • Macbeth by William Shakespeare act 3 starts with macbeth has a feeling that Banquo might know that he killed the king."upon my head they placed a fruitless crown put a barren scepter in my grip, thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand, no son of mine succeeding. if't  be so, for Banquo's issue have i filed my mind: for them the gracious Duncan have i murdered, put rancors in the vessel of peace" (3.1.226). Macbeth is saying why did he kill the king if someone else is going to take the throne. that night Macbeth hire some hit men to kill banquo. "i will put that business in you bosoms whos execution takes your enemy off grapples you to the heart and love of us, who wear our health but sickly oh his life, which in his death wore perfect" (3.1.248). He's saying that if they do this they will earn the loyalty of the king (macbeth). the murderers killed banquo  "my lord, his throat is cut, that i did for him"(3.4.16). One of the murderes told macbeth that Banquo is dead Macbeth goes back the dinner table. he gets up to give speech while he was speaking Banquo's ghost was siting in king Duncan's chair.
  • RL.4 Analyze the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative, connotative, and technical meanings
  • In Macbeth act 3. Macbeth starts getting a guilty conscience when he sees Banquos ghost he says " the charnel house and our grave most send those that we burry back" (3.4.71-72). meaning that Macbeth might as while be dead too if hes seeing ghost. Macbeth goes on and tells him self that what he did was the right thing to do if he didnt want anyone to find out what he did. "blood hath been shed ere now, i' th' olden time, ere humane statute purged the gentle weal; ay, and since too, murders have been performed too terrible for the ear" (3.4.75-78). This is why i think the theme of Macbeth act 3 is guilty because he keeps on thinking about the fact that he has killed 2 people so far.
  •  RL.4 Analyze the cumulative impact of specific word choices on meaning Analyze the cumulative impact of  specific word choices on tone.
  • Macbeth in act 3 he starts feeling emotions. He starts feeling guilty he knows that he has done something wrong. Macbeth says "avaunt, and quit my sight" (3.4.95). Macbeth see the ghost of Banquo telling him to leave and not come back. with this we can say that not only is Macbeth seeing ghost but he is regretting everything that he has done.
  • Conclusion/work on adding 4 category level (on the rubric) to your project.
  • William Shakespeare uses a lot of figurative language in hes plays. i feel like it gives more meaning to whatever hes trying to say "whole as a marble, founded as a rocks, as broad and general as the casing air" (3.4.23-24). In this quote he is using a simile to compare two things. A marble that has been found as rock how marble are usally found.
  • The tone for Macbeth in act 3 is dark. there has to be a reason why it was so dark. Two death so far which who have been killed by Macbeth.
