  • John Q. Adams & the Corrupt Bargain (1824)
  • No way I lost!!!
  • Tariff of Abomination (1828)
  • Jackson 1st election (1828)
  • The House chose John Quincy Adams over his rival, Andrew Jackson. Jackson believed that Congress convinced the House to choose Adams. They call this the Corrupt Bargain.
  • South Carolina Nullification (1828)
  • I choose not to obey these laws!!!
  • A protective tariff passed to protect northern industry.
  • Worcester v. Georgia (1832)
  • Andrew Jackson got his friends to tell other good things about him so he could win the election. He rewarded them with work spots in the Kitchen Cabinet.
  • Trail of Tears (1836)
  • South Carolina tried to ignore and not follow laws that they found unconstitutional.
  • Worcester defended the Cherokee tribe because he thought it was unfair for President Jackson to make them leave to the west.
  • They can stay here! They have rights too!
  • The Cherokee tribe were forced to move west and many died on the horrible trip.
