Storyboard Text

  • If Duncan hadn't reminded me of my father while sleeping, I would have killed him myself
  • I have done the deed
  • Sleep No More! Macbeth is murdering sleep!
  • Murder
  • God Bless Us!
  • Lady Macbeth waits anxiously as Macbeth kills the king, she keeps getting scared over little noises. This shows she is nervous just like Macbeth. She also thinks she hears the guards wake up. This frightens her and she begins to think of the worst.
  • Why Do you still have the knife?
  • Macbeth leaves the bed room with a bloody knife, he fears the worst and his mind is racing. He asks Lady Macbeth "Why wasn't I able to say amen after the guards said their prayers." I believe this relates back to when he was scared of the bad consequences to come after murdering the king.
  • Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hands?
  • KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
  • While Macbeth is talking to Lady Macbeth about what happened he keeps thinking he heard the guards talking. He also claims he herd someone chanting over and over again, "Sleep no more, Macbeth is murdering sleep."
  • KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
  • Go put on your nightgown, in case someone comes and sees we are awake.
  • Lady Macbeth realizes Macbeth never planted the knife on the guards. Therefore she takes the knife and proceeds to put it on the guards, she also calls Macbeth a coward. This goes back to the theme of gender roles.
  • Macbeth begins to panic and feels awful about what he has done. He hears a knocking on the door and rushes to go wash his hands. The knocking on the door creates suspense and mystery for the audience.
  • Lady Macbeth returns after smearing the blood on the guards and leaving the with the knife. She says to Macbeth, "My hands are as red as yours, but i would be ashamed if my heart was as pale and weak." Once again this leads back to gender roles and shows Lady Macbeth's dominance over Macbeth. The unanswered door creates a cliff hanger, leading into the next scene.
