  • Meeting the Estates General
  • The French Revolution occurred from 1789 - 1799. It was an uprising of the peasants against the clergy (Church) and the Nobles.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • New Constitution.......
  • Some Factors the led to the Revolution were Bad harvests, High prices, High taxes, and New Enlightenment ideas.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • The Estates General was an assembly of representatives from all 3 estates. The clergy and nobles expected to dominate. However, the Third Estate created the National Assembly.
  • The Great Fear
  • The National Assembly broke down a door to an indoor tennis court, pledging to stay until they had drawn up a new constitution.
  • The Third Estate stormed the Bastille because Louis was going to use the military to dismiss the National Assembly. There were 7 prisoners, and they were released. 
  • The Great Fear was a wave of senseless panic through France where peasants became outlaws themselves. People broke into nobles' manors and destroyed documents that bound them to pay feudal dues or burned down the houses altogether.
