This was my favorite event I learned this semester.
Today we are going to learn about Dias de Los Muertos!!
Dias de Los Muertos
My favorite event that we learned about was when we learned about Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the dead) and what also fascinated me was that the Gaelic culture also had a day like us Mexicans and is called Samhain.
Dias de Los Muertos is basically a happy day in, where we as Mexicans, celebrate the life of our ancestors who have gone into the afterlife. We bring them food, we play music, and we just basically celebrate their life.
Samhain is a Gaelic tradition, which is almost similar to Dias de Los Muertos because they have to do with the souls of their ancestors. The difference is that while Dias de Los Muertos is a happy day, Samhain is a day of silence so that when they gather together to eat, the soul of their ancestor can eat in peace.
