  • Fortunato a victim of Montresor a man who had enough of humilziation.
  • Rising Action
  • The Rising action for the cask of the amontillado is when Montresor is leading Fortunato down to where he eventually locks him and leaves him there.
  • Climax
  • The climax is when Montresor surprises Fortunato by chaining him to the wall, thereby ending the suspense of whether or not Fortunato will get away. Once Fortunato is in chains, we know Montresor's revenge is assured.
  • The falling action is when Montresor is building the wall and they are yelling back and forth at each other.
  • Conflict
  • The main conflict is that fortunato had done something to montresor and now montresor wants to get back at him by killing him.
  • The resolution occurs when Montresor finishes telling the story of the murder of Fortunato by saying that Fortunato has remained within the bricked in room in the cellar undisturbed for the past 50 years.
