on December 7, 1941, Japanese planes started to bomb the U.S. naval base at pearl harbor.
Many sailors died, and many ships and planes were destroyed too.
But two pilots who came from a game of poker, heard the gunfire and explosions, and rushed over their airfield, and immediately took off to fight the japanese planes.
Their names were second lieutenant Kenneth Taylor, and Major George Welch, and they were the 2 with the highest kill count on that day.
hey george, look over there, there's some japanese planes
let's shoot them down Ken!
I need to reload my guns
Ken we got them!
hurry up we need to back up in the air!
The two pilots re-fueled and re-armed twice during the attack.
