Well, Horace Mann was an American Education reformer who dedicated his work to promoting public education. He was elected to act as secretary of the newly created Massachusetts Board of education in 1837.
OK cool! but what is the school reform movement and how did it effect kids?
Well, back then, black people and women were not allowed to go to school. Only rich white boys. So, Horace Mann Stepped in and thought that was wrong. He lead a reform to get everyone and education. This impacted so many people to get and education who wanted one. Now a days, anyone can go to school no matter your gender, race or religion.
