Upon admission, it was discovered that Ms. Smith a 76-year-old female, has excoriation to her entire back, buttocks, and bilateral thighs due to laying in her own feces
As a nurse advocate for the elderly, a nurse must communicate living conditions and safety concerns with a case manager and also report any suspected neglect or abuse to Adult protective services.
As Ms. Smiths advocate I consulted our case manager and we filled a report with Adult Protective Services. As a patient advocate, it is my duty to ensure patient safety and to stand up for their rights when they are not able.
