  • There is an old man who is almost sleeping. The old man has a book he's reading. The night is bleak and black December
  • Climax
  • “Prophet! thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!By that Heaven that bends above us—by that God we both adore—Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels named Lenore! 
  • The old man is anguished at the thought of his loving memory of the girl he calls Lenore.
  • Falling action
  • Leave now you foul demon! Leave no trace of your existence.
  • There are sounds from the door, the old man looks out to find only darkness... He then hears more sounds and opens the shutters, a raven flies in and sits upon the mans chamber door.
  • Resolution
  • The man asks the raven if his lost lover Lenore was in heaven, and the raven replies "nevermore"
  • Nevermore
  • The old man shrieks at the raven to leave and calls it a demon. The raven only replies "nevermore"
  • Nevermore
  • The raven lies still at the chamber door, never moving, never leaving...
