Us slaves got whipped if we stepped out of line. It has been the worst experience of my life and I want everyone to know how terrible it was
In the 1800's, slaves were seen as essential to farm and businessmen owners to take care of work for almost free.
A slave named Frederick Douglass decided he couldn't live the way he was any longer, so he made an escape attempt. He disguised himself and rode a train to the North where slavery was illegal.
Frederick Douglass, after escaping slavery, gave speeches about how awful it was to be a slave. His speeches were so powerful that it brought people to tears.
William Garrison was another anti-slavery advocate. One of his many ideas was that the constitution was a pro slavery document
Because of what William and Frederick did, people all across America realized how terrible slavery was
If the slavery reform didn't happen, who knows where we would be today. There could be slaves today and America wouldn't have everything it does.
