The New Jersey Plan vs Virginia Plan (1787), was a debate over how many members of congress there would be for each state. This issue was resolved with the Connecticut Compromise, which created two separate parts of the legislative branch.
The Three-Fifths Compromise (1787), was a debate on if a slaves vote should be counted and if so, for how much. This small grant of rights for slaves led some people to fight for the abolition of slavery
We want slaves votes to count!
Fine, but you have to pay property taxes for them.
The Commerce and Slave Trade Compromise was an agreement that the government could not tax state exports or interfere with slave trade for another 20 years (1808). Helped congress be able to now regulate taxes on exports.
You don't have the right to tax my tobacco!!
The Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists groups were people who either agreed with the constitution or were against it. This debate between sides helped lead to the creation of the Bill of Rights.
The government has too much power!
The Ratification of the Constitution (1778) was when the constitution was officially adopted by the states and was the national government.
This is our new government :P
The Bill of Rights (1791) was a document added to the constitution which directly stated individuals rights and limited the power of the government. This is still in the constitution today.
