Storyboard Text

  • Ugh! I don't understand Photosynthesis and I need to start my homework!
  • But child, Photosynthesis is very simple!
  • On the contrary, I can talk. And I will talk to you about photosynthesis!
  • But you're a tree! You can't talk!
  • Who said that?
  • I did!
  • Here, let me simplify it. My leaves have cells. And in those cells I have an organelle called chloroplast which contains chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs the sunlight.
  • Well photosynthesis is a process that captures energy from sunlight to make sugars that store chemical energy.
  • Okay!
  • The absorbed energy from the sunlight is transferred to the thylakoid membrane, another part of my chloroplast. Here, water molecules are broken down and oxygen is released.
  • Oh!
  • Then energy- carrying molecules transfer energy to the stroma inside my chloroplast. Carbon dioxide molecules are used in the stroma to build sugars. These sugars then become food.
  • No way!
  • You welcome, child!
  • Oh that makes so much sense! Thank you, I now understand photosynthesis!
