  • Complexity of Intellectual Property By: Gena Min
  • This is my intellectual property. Intellectual property is a work that is the result of the creativity to which one has rights and for which one may apply for a patent, copyright, and trademark.
  • I'll explain what a patent, copyright, and trademark is!
  • Copyright is a legal right that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights to determine whether the original work may be used by others.
  • The copyright term is dependent on when the work is created.  If you infringe copyright, you have to be ordered to pay for damages.
  • A patent gives its owner the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, and importing an invention for a limited period. A patent's length is 20 years.
  • A trademark is a recognizable sign, design, or expression which identifies products or services of a particular source from those of others.
