Storyboard Text

  • T - Title
  • The 1920's was a happy and fun time!
  • P - Paraphrase
  • C - Connotation
  • I think the poem, "The Roaring '20s" is about how life was for the people who lived in that time zone.
  • A - Attitude
  • The flappers danced, jazz was played cool, and the beer was served hot. Women found freedom displaying new trends. The Charleston became popular and crime was ignored. Prices soared, but few were aware of the doom. The stock market crashed and panic begins, but the flappers still danced while the bootleggers fought.
  • S - Shift
  • . . . . .
  • There were speakeasies, jazz music played, flappers danced, and bootleggers fought.
  • T - Title Revisited & Theme
  • The attitude is happy because there was dancing, music was playing, and drinks were served. There is also dismay because Wall Street "collapses" and panic begins.
  • The shift occurs on stanza 6 when it says, "Then Wall Street collapses and drons out the roar and panic begins where prosperity ends, but flappers still danced while the bootleggers fought and jazz was played cool while the booze was served hot."
  • The '20s were a time of jazz, new dances, liquor, speakeasies, and it roared with social amends. The theme of this poem is to keep going even when life gets harder.
