A story of an immigrant who moved to America in 1899 and lived as a humble servant without much pay. She was willing to leave Mexico to help her parents economically to keep their construction business there. During the passage to America, 3 men assaulted her and kidnapped her. She managed to escape and never said a word to anyone until she had finally met her goals and used the story to inspire her 13 year olds to meet their goals no matter the past.
On the year of 1899 my friend Melissa's mom moved from Mexico to America. Her background, she let it blur away so she could get an education and help her parents economically at home.
Julieta, Melissa's mom would work as a house maid in Arizona with much exploitation. She was not allowed off duty until midnight and she barely ate..
I JUST WANT MY KIDS TO HAVE AN EDUCATED MOTHER AND MY PARENTS TO AFFORD THE THINGS THEY NEED. ILL GET THERE...
Julieta would work and go to school at three to get there at 6:30am. Sometimes she fell asleep from studying at 1 am to 3 am. She always had to push herself to keep trying.
After a few centuries of hard work and endurance, Julieta became a teacher and public speaker for young immigrants seeking education. She had a family and became a citizen of the United States.
Wow mom, you overcame an assault in the passage to America, you worked so hard even tho you got treated miserably, and you studied! You are definitely a strong woman. - MELISSA
