  • After Tom Walker Makes His Deal With The Devil
  • By: Washington Irving
  • Tom Walker was a greedy, self absorbed man who lived in a dark, gloomy-like house. His wife was often abusive towards him. He set out on a journey through a swamp-like setting and discovered a skull buried in the dirt. From then on he met the devil and made a deal with him. The deal was basically Tom's soul in exchange for endless money.
  • Tom Walker makes his deal with the devil, which is his soul for money. This makes Tom become an overly-greedy and desensitized to others around him. He starts forclosing homes and still continues to not feed his horse.  Tom eventually breaks his deal with the Devil and the devil comes and take all of Tom's belongings away and leaves him poor.
