Father (downstage right) is verbally abusing his child (downstage right), degrading her and making her feel worthless. In Australia 2015-2016, the most common type of child abuse was emotional abuse. Around 45% of all child abuse victims were emotionally abused.
Daughter (centre stage) feels lonely, worthless and helpless.
The abuser (stage left) has a more powerful status making it easier to continue this behaviour because his wife (stage right) would never believe their 10-year-old daughter.
