Storyboard Text

  • Gatsby vs. Tom
  • Daisy has loved me since the day we met!
  • Daisy never loved you!
  • Gatsby vs. Society
  • Can I take a ride in the circus wagon?
  • Will I ever be accepted into the 'old money' society?
  • Gatsby vs. Self
  • It's alright, the time is already lost and broken.
  • I dropped the clock!
  • When Tom figures out that Gatsby and Daisy are having an affair, he gets angry. Here, Gatsby and Tom fight over who they think Daisy really loves.
  • Gatsby has a major conflict with society which holds back Daisy's desire for him. Gatsby does not have old money, and Tom does. Gatsby will never fit in with the 'old money' society, therefor Daisy will never be with him.
  • Gatsby internally struggles with the conflict of lost time. His past is full of ghosts, like how his name, Jay Gatsby, is close to his old name, Jay Gatz. The ghost of the old Daisy he used to know is another part of his past. The clock being dropped shows how Gatsby has lost so much time living his life for Daisy when he can't have her.
