Three men named Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who were committed to love and praise God, dominated the settlement in Egypt in which they were called The patriarchs which means the father of a family. Abraham was the first one to become a Patriarch. Issac the first son of Abraham, was to be sacrificed but his father was tested to show loyalty to God in which the sacrifice was withdrawn. Jacob, the son of Issac renewed the covenant and also fathered 12 sons.
Jacob was given the name of Israel by God in which his people were known as the Israelites. Prosperity didn't last for them in Egypt for them so after 150 years of living under kind pharaohs, The Israelites were dominated by the Egyptian pharaohs in which the Jews were enslaved. They suffered from backbreaking jobs like brick-making and construction public buildings.
God called to Moses telling him to mission out to help lead the Israelites out of Egypt from slavery from the Pharaohs.
