Good morning students, today we would be talking about the Cold War, who knows about the Cold War, and some events that happened during that period?
The Cold War was a long period of tension between the democracies of the Western World and the communist countries of Eastern Europe. Additionally, at the end, there was about 6 million death.
An event that happened during that period was the separation of eastern Europe from western Europe by the Soviet Union, known as the Iron Curtain, because in Chiurchill's speech says, that in that way, no one knew what was going on behind the “curtain.”
That's right! Additionally, did you guys know that the Truman Doctrine was issued by President Harry S. Truman in 1947? Well, in this doctrine, President Truman said that the United States would go to whatever lengths possible to contain the spread of communism and stop the United States' former ally, the Soviet Union.
Ms. Lily, but what was the Marshall Plan about?
The Marshall Plan provide aid to Western Europe, followed by the devastation of WW II, it was to halt the spread communism on the European continent.
Miss! What about the speech by Nikita Khrushchev?
Well, the Nikita Khrushchev speech was on 1956 and the speech was the nucleus of a far-reaching de-Stalinization campaign intended to destroy the image of the late dictator as an infallible leader. In this speech Khrushchev criticized Stalin for many ways, one of them is for having failed to make adequate defensive preparations before the German invasion of the Soviet Union.
