You may be surprised, but I already know who you are
In the story, The Most Dangerous Game General Zaroff is the antagonist. The three traits I chose established, deranged, and caring.
"His eyes, too, were black and very bright. he had high cheekbones, a sharp-cut nose, a spare, dark face, the face of someone used to giving orders, the face of an aristocrat."(page 10) By the way he is described is an example of him being established.
"It's a game you see," pursed the general blandly. "I suggest to one of them that we go hunting. I give him a supply of food and an excellent hunting knife. I give him three hours' head start. I am to follow armed only with a pistol of the smallest caliber and range. If my quarry eludes me for three whole days, he wins the game..." (page 15). When General Zaroff says this we can infer that he is thinking to hunt Rainsford.
General Zaroff's thoughts are an example of him being deranged. He acts and pretends to be civilized, but he hunts people.
"You've done well, Rainsford," the voice of the general called "Your Burmese tiger pit has claimed one of my best dogs"(page 21) By saying this it shows that Zaroff cares about his dog because it was his best one.
General Zaroff's action of being upset show that he cared about Ivan.
Another example of General Zaroff being deranged is that he was bored of hunting tigers.
