  • Before the Battle
  • Before the Battle
  • During the battle
  • Muslims from Spain threatened French territories until Duke Eudes had banned them from coming back in 721, but they did come back in 725.
  • During the Battle
  • In the year 732, the governor of Spain, Abd er Rahman, traveled over the Pyrenees Mountains. He did this possibly to end the unrest on his northern border, but it was most likely that it was to loot the Franks.
  • After the Battle
  • Where the battle took place exactly is still unknown, but it is believed that it was where the two rivers Clain and Viene come together.
  • After the Battle
  • In previous battles, the Muslims won because of their cavalry, long lances, spears, and swords. Unlike the Muslims, the Franks were an infantry but despite their disadvantage, the Franks had won because of their discipline and determination.
  • Charles Martel was extremely important because if all the Franks were defeated, then Europe would have been conquered by the Muslims, which would have gotten rid of all Christianity in Europe and replaced it with Islam.
  • After the victory, Frankish bakers would make crescent shaped bread to resemble the symbol of the invaders and serve it to other Franks celebrating.
