  • This is the Jones family. This is Jill (age 35) and her two kids, Alice (age 9) and Blake (age 12). Jill's husband passed away four months ago due to a heart attack. Jill works as a telemarketer to support her family. Jill enjoys cooking and spending time with her kids on her free time. Alice takes dancing classes and Blake plays soccer for his middle school.  
  • The company she worked for is going out of business  and her boss was forced to let her go.
  • Jill has no idea how she is going to support her family and very little money for food.
  • Jill looks into the SNAP program. SNAP is a program that provides money for food to families who are in need.

  • SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is the program formerly known as food stamps. It is a federal nutrition program that helps you stretch your food budget and buy healthy food. SNAP benefits can be used to purchase food at grocery stores, convenience stores, and some farmers' markets and co-op food programs.
