  • Jenna knows how to take care of her customers, finding just the right shoe for each one. She prides herself on getting the right fit for every foot. • St. Louis, Missouri
  • Jenna is reluctant when she sees the Cadillac she will drive! She leaves her problems at home such as her alcoholic father and her grandmother that is staying in a nursing home because of her alzheimers.
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Their first stop on this road trip is Peoria Illinois. Mrs. Gladstone sends Jenna in to scope everything out, such as displays, employees, etc. The first thing Jenna sees is a sign that says, "We're not selling shoes, we're selling quality!" (52) Jenna pretended to be a customer and she wasn't pleased by her time there. Jenna also noticed that the Nike display was in the back of the store, not where customers would be attracted and want to come into the store.
  • Jenna also gets to meet another important character named Alice Lovett, who is a retired shoe model. Alice gives Jenna some pointers on beauty since she sees that Jenna is a self conscious teenager just trying to fit in. She shows her how to style her red hair and what eyeshadow looks best with green eyes. She dresses her in a black shirt and a green checkered skirt customized with a black belt. (100-101)
  • Jenna gives her final speech about Mrs. Gladstone
