Storyboard Text

  • In 1773, the Parliment passed the Tea Act which gave the British East India Company the sole right to sell tea in the colonies.
  • The British Company is trying to compete with us merchants!
  • Let's boycott their tea company! Spread the word to the other colonists.
  • Some colonists destroyed tea shipments, most famously in Boston.
  • After this, men dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded three British tea ships in the Boston Harbor. They broke open the tea chests and threw 90,000 pounds of tea into the water.
  • These laws closed Boston Harbor, shut down the civilian courts, and placed Massachusetts under firm British control.
  • We (British Government) need to do something to stop these intoberable acts.
  • I know! We can create strict laws and put the colonists under our control.
  • These policies that the British are making are unacceptable! They go against every principle of natural justice. We need to work together as Patriots and oppose the British rule.
