After seeing the Mayor go against the Civil Rights Movement, Charles and his wife, Anna know they must make wave in their community. However, Charles receives a letter which changes their plans.
Charles knows that he must keep his draft under wraps if he wants the movement in the town to succeed since he is the leader of the Civil Rights Movement in Monroeville.
Knowing that he had to leave for Vietnam soon, he revealed to his followers he was leaving and passed his role to his friend and activist, Steven Jackson.
