Warrior-King, Shaka, expanded the Zulu kingdom by conquering neighboring lands and also revolutionized warfare and weaponry. As a result, he created a powerful, military strong, unified kingdom.
British vs Zulus
The Zulus gained fame by the Anglo-Zulu war but gained the most fame by initially beating the British at the Battle of Isandlwana in 1879.
The british were interested in the Zululands fro many reasons including they wanted the Zulu population to provide labor for the Britain diamond mines in South Africa.

Cetshwayo, the current King of the Zululands at the time, heard of the news and built an army of 40-60,000 men to fight British rule.
When the Zulus refused to accept the rules, the British ended up invading the lands under the leadership of Lord Chelmsford
With only their shields and spears the Zulus were able to capture a British camp and kill some of the british soldiers.
Britain fought back hard after their loss and were able to capture Cestshwayo and the war was OVER
The Zululands were broken up and annexed by Britain.
