Scene 1 - The three witches meet and discuss Macbeth. A key quote is used here: "Fair is foul and foul is fair"
Scene 2 - This scene is a battle where the Thane of Cawdor is a traitor and killed. King Duncan decides to give valiant fighter Macbeth the title
Scene 3 - The witches tell Macbeth that he will become King and Banquo will not but his children will. Macbeth is also officially knight the Than of Cawdor. Key quote: "so foul and fair a day". This links back to Act 1 Scene 1
Scene 4 - The original Thane of Cawdor is executed and Duncan announces that Malcolm (his son) will be the next King leaving Macbeth confused. Key quote by the Prince of Cumberland: "this is a step I must fall down o'erelap"
Scene 5 - Macbeth writes a letter to Lady Macbeth to explain what has happened. She asks god to remove all of her kindness and good stuff. She plots Duncan's murder and tells Macbeth that he has to do it if he wants to become King
Scene 7 - Macbeth murders Duncan whilst he is staying at Macbeth's castle as per Lady Macbeth's instructions. The guards are drugged and Lady Macbeth discards the evidence; she slips the knife used beside one of the guards in order to frame him for the murder
