Storyboard Text

  • How are laws made?
  • Well it all starts with a bill. A bill is a proposal for a new law.
  • The Bill is introduced to parliament and they do the first reading. They do a debate and vote. If majority says no, the bill goes into the bin. If they say yes, it goes to the next stage
  • It would then go to the Select Committee. They research more about the bill and provide information to parliament. It could take them a long time before they get all their information.
  • This information goes back to Parliament and they have a second reading. They debate and have a vote. If majority says yes, it goes to the House Committee where they talk about it more and refine things.
  • If it gets past the House Committee, the bill will most likely pass. It gets a third reading were they vote again.
