Ms Caroline thinks that Scout is getting taught to read by her father Atticus. She believes its the improper of learning. Little does she know that's not the story
Ms. Caroline discovers that Walter doesn't have his lunch so she hands him a quarter. Which he has to pay back but Walter's a Cunningham.
Ms. Caroline is kind of confused on why Walter will not accept her money so Scout explains that Walter's a Cunningham. The Cunningham tribe has always been known as poor. In this scene, Scout stands up for Walter.
