Ghana, this kingdom lasted from 500 C.E. to 1200 C.E. Many different places call the highest ranking different. But in Ghana, they called them Kings.
Many people never really understood their way of transferring items for long journey's. But the animal they used were camels. They could go on long journey's and could carry heavy items.
Wangara's people were very interesting. Since they lived in one of the main places for gold mining, people would often torture and kill them trying to find out where the gold was. But they never gave the secret and they were willing to die for it.
The Taghaza people lived in the Sahara desert and were one of the few people that others would go to for salt. They would harvest salt through evaporation and through mining. They also would go through tunnels and could dig only 3 ft deep to find it.
Ghana then created a tax system to helped the king conquer other places. It also help the traders, when bringing in goods, from being robbed by gathering army members.
And lastly, Kumbi had the busiest and largest slave markets in West Africa. Many local people sold and bought items from there.
