In 1904, the Russo-Japanese war started. Russia declared war on Japan, Japan ended up winning the war due to being more industrialized. The two countries fought for land and richer resources.
After having four daughters, the royal family finally had their first son, Alexei. Alexei was diagnosed with Hemophilia, meaning he would always have a life or death situation when he got injured.This was the outcome of Alexei not becoming the next czar.
In 1905, Russian's tried having a peaceful protest at the winter palace. This peaceful protest however went badly when the body guards started killing Russians because czar Nicholas II was not present. This protest was then named Bloody Sunday because of the 100-1000 Russians being killed that Sunday.
A man named Rasputin helped the royal family's son by stoping the hemophilia from excessive bleeding. Because the royal family honored Rasputin so much, Rasputin was disliked by many Russians who wanted him dead. In 1906, Russians tried killing Rasputin many times, first he was poisoned with the amount of gas to kill five persons, next he was beaten, then shot, and finally thrown into the ocean causing him to drown and leading to his actually death.
In 1917 czar Nicholas II was overthrown by the duma. The duma is a meeting that would take place for people to think. The duma allowed for soviets to have more power and czars' would share power equally with a representative.
Eventually Lenin took over and ordered for the royal family to keep captive. Then one night in 1918, the family was told to go to the basement for a family photo but instead was killed by bodyguards all shooting each and everyone of the family at different times.
