  • I must make an army and start an uprising!
  • Only 20 people? It doesn't matter. We stay indoor during the morning and do drills every night.
  • In 1859, tensions between free North and  slave Souths continues to grow.
  • Mr. Forbes, please be the drillmaster.
  • Sure! I accept the offer.
  • John Brown, an abolitionist, was outraged by slavery in the state of Virginia. He wants to state an uprising.
  • John Brown is trying to start a rebellion!
  • He bought a farmhouse in Maryland and used it as a base of operations. It was occupied with a group of 18 men. Tey stayed indoors in the morning and go out at night to do drills.
  • Mr. Forbes may look brave but he really isn't. He's not what you think he is.
  • Brown tried to get Hugh Forbes to be his drillmaster, but they had an argument.
  • Forbes disclosed their plans to US officials.
  • Brown had to go to Kansas to discredit Forbes, and this costed him valuable time.
