  • And it was peaceful in a treaty known as the Louisiana Purchase. Now we can ship goods to all over the world!
  • I know! That's all the land from the beginning of the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River for only about 3 cents per acre!
  • The Tough Trail of Tears (1830-1838)
  • It's the only way y'all can survive and thrive!
  • I can't believe we still have to move to the land west of the Mississippi even thought Andrew Jackson's law was determined unconstitutional.
  • Keep moving! We want the land y'all occupy!
  • Santa Anna
  • No More Republic! (1845)

  • Yes! I heard there is so much gold!
  • They are traveling through our land!
  • The Mexican government felt torn because it was their idea to bring in US settlers to Texas, and if they never did that, then Texas would not be annexing to their enemy, the US, but if they never brought white settlers into Texas, the US government might have taken over the lands of Texas sooner. The Southern states felt more represented because Texas supported slavery, like the Southern States, so therefore they would have more of an impact in congress which would create the nation they want.
  • Wounded Knee, Wounded Spirit (1890)
  • I heard they were doing some Ghost Dance, we better check this settlement.
  • From the perspective of the Mexicans they were confused because they thought the boarder was at the Nueces River, so the blindsided war cost them many resources and economic and land loss. However, the American troops were just trying to defend their land and prevent the Mexican settlers from taking all the valuable resources from Texas.
  • No the border is at the Nueces River!
  • Rio Grande
  • The Mexican-American border is at the Rio Grande River
  • Both the United States government and white settlers were excited because their economy boosted with the gold found in the Oregon Territory, and they finally achieved Manifest Destiny, and owned all the land from coast to coast, like they thought they were destined to do. However, all the tribes that lived there got their economy lowered because they were having members of their tribes killed, and were continued to be asked to sign treaties by the US, which proved to them that they had a lower economic status.
  • Can you sign this treaty and move to a smaller area of land?
  • While the US was greatly expanding its economy by gaining new land, the Indigenous People were suffering and loosing hope in many ways. However, the US government got to live on their land without being worried of the Indigenous people attacking.
