Storyboard Text

  • Protagonist: Delia
  • Antagonist: June
  • Theme
  • When everyone thinks that Delia killed herself everyone is focused on her. Throughout the whole book, she is the main character.
  • "And then . . . there I am, inside Delia's kitchen for the first time in over a year" (108)
  • June is trying to find out how Delia died and who killed her. While figuring that out she had to find clues. She talked to many people and was forced to have opinions and feelings toward these people.
  • "I found a pregnancy test at her house and it said that she was pregnant." (138)
  • The theme of this book is to keep the people you love close to you because you never know when they could be gone. Unfortunately, Delia had to learn that the hard way.
  • "And then eventually . . . you are not breathing or pulsing at all anymore"  (297)
  • This shows suspense because June is in Delia's house while Delia is "dead". She went there and remembered where the spare key was. She remembered that since it was Sunday that Delia's parents would be at church and the house would be empty.
  • This lets us believe that Delia was pregnant when she "died". It's foreshadowing because if Delia was pregnant, it could have been a reason why she killed herself.
  • June goes to Delia's house to get revenge on her step-dad for raping her. June is told that she is just going there to scare him. He is a diabetic so he take insulin everyday but Delia decides to give him twice as much. Th kill him.
