  • Ares was the child of Zeus and Hera.
  • He was one of the 12 Gods and Goddesses that lived at Mt. Olympus
  • When Ares was still a child, two giants named the Aloadae raided Mt. Olympus. They captured Ares and imprisoned him in a jar for 13 months. He was only released when the giants mother told Hermes and he rescued Ares.
  • As the God of war, Ares has supernatural strength and durability along with the ability to  expertly use any weapon.
  • Ares was the least popular of the Gods. He was disliked by both of his parents along with most of the other Gods and Goddesses and The Greeks.
  • Ares represents war but more specifically bloodlust and slaughter. In literature Ares is alluded to as the personification of violence.
