  • The first European to arrive in NZ arrived in December 1642 the captain of that voyage was Abel Tasman other Europeans arrived including James cook soon after ships from France and America followed closer to the begging of the 19th century settlers from Great Britan arrived and a lot of them
  • The  British didn't  much like having the French and American Settlers  around neither did the Maori  didn't like it either  so they agreed to sign a treaty
  • They eventually signed a few key elements ARTICAL one  The king or queen of great Britan has the right to rule over NZ ARTICAL two  the maori cheifs can keep their land and their cheifmanship and the Maori agree to only  sell their land to the British monarch ARTICAL three  All maori have the same rights as British sujects
