Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Inciting Event
  • Rising Action
  • Kino and Juana awake on a peaceful morning in the town of La Paz, Mexico. 
  • Climax
  • Kino and Juana's child, Coyotito, is stung by a scorpion and needs medical attention, but the family cannot afford a doctor.
  • Falling Action
  • Kino and Juana find a pearl in the Gulf of Mexico and when the city and neighbors find out about the pearl they try to steal it and take advantage of them.
  • Resolution
  • When Kino and Juana try to leave the city a stranger tries to rob Kino and Kino kills him, they then walk home only to find their house burned down and their canoe broken. 
  • Kino, Juana, and Coyotito hide in Juan Thomas' house then leave at night by foot, then they see trackers and decide to flee the mountains of the North, where Coyotito is shot by the trackers.
  • Kino and Juana return to La Paz, tired and defeated, and throw the pearl back into the Gulf of Mexico.
