Storyboard Text

  • Representative Democracy (Republic)
  • Direct Democracy
  • Anarchy
  • Citizens hold the ultimate power by electing leaders to represent their rights in government.
  • Dictatorship
  • There are no representatives and instead citizens are directly involved in governing the country.
  • Monarchy
  • Either nobody or everybody is in control. This is the type of government used before any other governments developed.
  • Oligarchy
  • Only one leader holds all of the power. Regardless of the situation, the dictator makes all of the decisions.
  • Usually coming to power through their family line, a monarch (a king or a queen) rules the country. The monarch has total power and has the final say over the government.
  • A junta controls the country and holds all the power. Similar to a dictatorship, an ologarchy deals with several people sharing power.
