After the day came and Papa had to tell Uncle Louis he was moving into town the relationship of the family was changed forever. Uncle Louis threw a big fit after Uncle Louis stated he had to move to be closer to work and the rest of town even though his real intentions for moving were to get Junior into a good school that will teach him many great things with lots of other English speaking children around.
Junior heads into the school saying bye to his mom, aunt, sister, and brother. And as he started to walk in he sees people and things he never would have imagined at this type of school.
Junior meets a group of people at recess, who believe they can beat him up for stepping on his foot even though the others in the class say Junior is going to be hard to beat. junior grabbed grabbed him with one hand on Chango's wrist and the other on his elbow and tripped him and watched him fall to the ground. As he arose he said "do that again" with a face of respect on and stood with awe that he is only a first grader and could do such things.
Chango's mother forced Chango and his friends to invite Junior to their tradition of going to the movies. Chango finally reluctantly agreed and brought Junior to the movies with him and his gang. At one part in the movie they all had a special saying they would chant at a certain spot in the movie. Chango said to Junior that is he was going to come with them to the movies he had to chant along with them. So when the time came Junior yelled and chanted with the whole gang with how suprised they were by him the whole gang welcomed him in to their group.
Years later when Junior is thinking back on this his childhood he remembers the gang and especically the memories of Denver. Although, he couldn't remember his name and all he could remember was the Alamo and John Wayne. They had watched, relived, and seen many other versions of this movie more times then any of them could count. So relating back he decided to rename Denver in his mind to John Wayne.
The story represents how being different races shouldn't stop you from making a variety of friends and people to look up to .And that the world can be a whole different place when we just take racism and prejudice out of it.
