Exposition: The Narrator arrives at his childhood friend's (Rodrick Usher) house. He arrived due to Roderick reaching out to him because of illness in his family.
Conflict: Roderick buries his sister after her long battle with illnesses. And is buried in the family burial ground.
Rising Action: The narrator tries to comfort his friend from the loss of his sister. His attempts to comfort his friend doesn't work concerning the books he reads and paintings they paint and their depressing qualities. While seeing the glowing green vapor outside.
Climax: Roderick's sister, Madeline, comes back to life and she's angry to get revenge on her brother.
Falling action: After hearing strange noises and Roderick going insane there was a disturbance at the door. When Madeline, Roderick's sister, comes back for revenge to kill her brother for burring her alive.
Resolution: The narrator runs away scared over the death of his friend by his dead then undead sister. Then watching their house be swallowed into the ground.
