Storyboard Text

  • Tim is very insecure about the way he looks. He doesn't believe in himself and worries that no one will see him for anything but an albino.
  • Hamartia: The flaw that causes the downfall
  • Tim McBeth as a Tragic Hero Using Aristotle's 6 Principles
  • Hubris: Extreme Pride
  • Tim is very unsecure about his appearance. He already obsesses over himself being an albino and he thinks that by wearing his glasses he will look even weirder. Since he doesn't wear the glasses he takes a turn for the worst.
  • Tim meets Vanessa at the airport. He gets to know here and he falls in love. They figure out that they are going to the same school. Tim is now obssesed with her and can't stop thinking about her. Order is finally restored when a tragedy happens and they no longer get to see each other.
  • Peripeteia: Reversal of fortune
  • Anagnorisis: When the hero makes a critical discovery
  • Tim grabs Vanessa's hand and she jumps on the sled with him. On there way down the snowy hill Tim realized that Vanessa thinks he is different, and not a bad different. He is about to be open up with her, then he can't see. Something goes terribly wrong.
  • They are sledding down the hill and Tim cannot see. He is driving the sled blind and they run into a tree. Vanessa hits it and she is injured. Tim is now blind and Vanessa finishes her senior year at home. Tim never sees her again.
  • Nemesis: Fate that cannot be reversed
  • After the tragedy occured and the book ended the readers were left with a sense of pity for Tim. We realized that he would never get to see Vanessa again and that he thought it was too late to "go forth ,and spread beauty and light."
  • Catharsis: Tone (Pity or Fear) the audience is left with after the hero's fall
