The first estate is divided into two groups, the higher clergy and the lower clergy. The higher clergy have the higher positions in society, they managed the churches and monasteries, and the lower clergy served the people. The first estate lived in luxury.
The second estate was The Nobility. The Nobility did not pay taxes and were the wealthy of the society, and did not work. But they did not pay anything towards the problems of the common people.
The third estate were everyone else. They were the largest group and were most of the population and had few rights, and little political power. Life was tough and they had to pay taxes, work the most, and were treated poorly.
