  • We're hungry, poor, and too big to feed!
  • France was split up into three parts.  The First estate, The Second estate, and The Third estate.  The First estate were the at the top of everyone except the king and queen. The Second estate were in the middle and The Third estate were at the bottom.
  • Many people wanted this to change. Mainly since the country was running out of money, they had a bad harvest, and they had a bigger population.
  • The king and queen at the time were Marie Antoinette and King Louis XIV. The role of the King and Queen were to keep order in the country and rule it. But they really sucked at their job.
  • The king really wanted more money so he tried to get even more taxes.  He called a meeting with the Estates=General and the people for the third estate told the king what they thought was wrong with France. When the king didn't listen they went to a Tennis court and made an oath that they would not leave until the king made changes.
  • Many members of the third estate were mad with how they were being treated. This started the Storming of The Bastille and The Great Fear. The destroyed and took over a protection building called the bastille and they started the great fear. Many people were killed and things were destroyed.
  • As a result to this, the National assembly passed a law soon after called The Declaration of the RIghts of Man. This law pretty much says that all men are equal, and that every citizen can talk, write, and publish freely.
