To Kill a Mockingbird. By Harper Lee
By: Grace Murray
It's 1930 in a small quiet town called Maycomb County, Alabama. In order from right to left are Atticus Finch, Lawyer and father to Scout and Jem: Calpurnia, the Finch cook, and Scout, Atticus' daughter, with Dill, Jem and Scouts best friend, and Jem Finch, son of Atticus Finch.
Atticus is defending Tom Robinson, a black man, against a white woman he supposedly raped. This has sent the town into a frenzy.
Hey, Mr.Cunningham. How's your entailment gettin' along?
Many men from Maycomb showed up late that night to get to Tom Robin. Scout ran into the midst of them sensing her fathers' danger. She then began to talk to them until the mob went away. Atticus told Tom he was safe, later Scout realized what she had done.
The trial came, and after a long wait while the jury was out, they came back in. The judge polled each, each saying "Guilty."
Jem struggled with the verdict, then Tom Robinson was shot. Jem then goes to Helen Robinsons and talks to her about her son.
Calpurnia has a kitchen filled with thank you gifts from friends and family of Tom, and Aunt Alexandra continues to criticize Jem and Scout in everything they do.
Walking home, Jem and Scout were attacked by Mr.Ewell. They were saved by Boo Radley, who killed Mr.Ewell. Scout later got to talk to Authur Radley on the Finch front porch. No one asked who killed Mr.Ewell because he had killed Tom Robinson. "Let dead burry dead."
