Thanks for coming over today Chloe! I want to redecorate my room, and the first thing I want to do is make a shelf underneath the stairs that lead to my bed. Can you help me figure out the ammount of space I need to remove from the side of my stairs?
Actually, I can help you! You can use the Pythagorean Theorem, which is a2 + b2 = c2 to figure it out since it is in a triangle shape.
Oh yeah! I remember learning about the Pythagorean Theorem at school! The heighth of the area is 32 in. and the length of the bottom is 28 in.
Okay, so take 32 and square it, and 28 and square it, which would be 1,024 and 784.
Then, add 1,024 to 784, and you get 1,808. Since that makes C2, you need to figure out C, so you need to square root 1,808. If you do that, you get 42.52.
Of course! I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done! Let me know if you need help with anything else!
Thank you so much Chloe! I understand now and I think my shelf will look so good thanks to you!
