Interphase At this point the aliens (chromosomes) are long, thin coil like. They are in town hall (Nucleus) and they decide that one planet (cell) is not enough. So they decide to double up or clone themselves to form partners (sister chromatids), that will eventually inhabit the other planet (cell).
Prophase The aliens (chromatids) become shorter and thicker. They have destroyed most of the town hall walls (nucleus walls) and are starting to move to opposite ends of the planet (cell).
Metaphase At this point the town hall is completely destroyed (nuclear membrane has dissolved fully) and the aliens (chromatids) are attached in the middle of the planet (cell) by a force in the air (spindle fibers). They recall the plan of making two planets (cells) and move to the next step.
Anaphase The pair or partners of aliens (chromatids) say goodbye to each other and separate and start to head to the opposite ends of the planet (cell) as there partner aliens (chromatids).
Telophase On opposite ends of the planet (cell) two town halls form (nuclei) and the aliens (chromosomes) appear as single aliens (chromatin) and become more thin or string like.
Cytokinesis The force of the aliens (chromosomes) separating makes the planet (cell) collapse in the middle forming two identical partner planets (daughter cells) with identical town halls (nucleus) and aliens (chromosomes).
