  • In 1790, Hamilton presented a plan to congress that proposed 3 steps to improve the nations finances. They were paying off all war debts, raising government revenues, and creating a national bank.
  • In  1791, Hamilton proposed a tax on whiskey. Many citizens didn't like the tax. In july of 1794, a force of whiskey rebels attacked and destroyed a tax collector's home.
  • The French revolution was inspired by the American revolution. It launched a rebellion against their government for liberty and equality.  This was awkward for the U.S. because  France was Americas ally in the Revolutionary war against the British. Jefferson said a move to crush the French Revolution was an attack on liberty
